EMASMAX® Installations
- Consistently proven, extraordinary abilities to stop overrunning aircraft without significant injury to people or damage to aircraft.
- Extensive testing and development with the FAA has led to the world’s most advanced arresting system for commercial airports.
- No RESA? No problem! According to ICAO’s updated Annex 14 Aerodromes standard, EMAS/arresting systems, such as EMASMAX® , are now officially accepted as an alternative means of compliance.
- EMASMAX® can be installed within the runway strip, a critical factor when RESAs are non-existent or severely constrained.
- The safety success of EMASMAX® - nine successful arrests - can also reduce liability for airports, airlines and insurers.
- The latest ICAO Update confirms the approvals already given by both the UK CAA and the FAA ,allowing EMASMAX® to be installed within the RESA or even within the runway strip.
- EMASMAX® can also free up additional runway length. For example, installing two beds would be equivalent to, but smaller than, two full 240 metre RESAs. This could allow the airport to declare several hundred feet of additional distance on that runway.
- The runway can re-open within hours as minimal or no damage to the aircraft enables it to be speedily removed with little impact on operating schedules.
- Normal operations are not affected greatly during installation which mostly takes place at night.
- EMASMAX® is effective in all weather conditions.
USA: 79 systems at 49 airports with plans to install 13 systems at nine further airports.
2006: Jiuzhai-Huanglong, Sichuan Province, PRC: Two systems.
2007: Madrid Barajas Int’l, Spain: Two systems.
2011: Taipei Songshan, Taiwan: One system.
2012: Kjevik, Kristiansand, Norway: Two systems.
- EMASMAX® enables compliance with RESA requirements, in much less space.
- It can minimise the need for major projects to: move roads and bridges; build into the sea; acquire extra land or infill; or encroach on environmentally sensitive sites. All of which may involve public and political opposition.
